Blackberry email through wifi only

For corporate phones, the security policies should be able to control application access to the internet. I wouldn't call accessing data directly over the wifi without going through RIM a hack. It's directly supported in the latest APIs. RIM simply hasn't updated their own applications to use that option. The Windows Live Search application for Blackberry has an option for wifi only mode, and jokes aside, I wouldn't call any application Microsoft puts out a hack.

I agree that I am not part of RIM's primary market. The main reason I have a Blackberry is it is the only phone available that supports UMA and can log in through a web portal.

I am fairly happy with it. The keyboard is great, and even without some of the sync features, it does more than any of my old phones. Right now, I'm just hoping Google will update their applications to work over wifi without a data plan. It requires a data plan, though. If that's a deal breaker, well, sorry. You need a cheaper phone I guess. Hmmm, not one to troll since I just bought a Pearl, but I wonder if the data is mined It is encrypted with AES from one end of its journey to the other.
